Everyone knows Simma is a fabulous singer songwriter with a way of rousing a crowd and raising a roof only the best entertainers have. But when I would say to him, as we chatted over lattes and Dr Who plots that he was also a stand up comedian and a poet, he disagreed for years.  Now that his book of wonderful stand up poetry is out, I feel I can be quite justified in saying “Told you so”. His timing, wit, precision and playfulness with words and ability to make more connections than an electrician with a sonic screwdriver make him a compelling writer. The pleasure he takes in crafting a piece, structuring it, and fashioning gold nuggets into credit crunch beating bling pays off brilliantly.

It’s a fascinating process - performing in front of an audience and Simma has all the elements needed to make it a high art - the way you have to be part

Paddy McDee, BBC

salesperson, conductor, psychiatrist, amplifier, speaker, fool and wiseman.  He’s had a glorious honeymoon as a working artist and perhaps this book is the gift he’s giving to the world for the first anniversary-paper. I know that his talent, energy and enthusiasm will take his poetry through many more. For now, enjoy the shining, many faceted diamonds of poems from this master communicator.
